Frustrating Installation Error

I was installing SQL Server on my machine and during installation my PC
freezed. It happens frequently on my machine as my bad luck sticks frequenctly to my side. So i tried after
restarting to install it again and since then i always get the same
error message:
"An error occurred while creating one or more registry entries. Please
see C:\WINDOWS\sqlstp.log for details. The problem could be caused by a
low registry quota condition"
I have tried to clean the registry during the installation bt chosing "advanced options" -> "Rebuild registry" and i don't know what else i could
do to solve this issue. I'd like to remark that i also deleted the SQL Server keys from Registry as suggested from Microsoft to delete default and special named instances.

I also deleted every thing under %TEMP%; I even installed third pary registry tools to clean the registry such as RegistryFix, Registry Mechanic and AMUST.

Finally, i'm using Windows XP Professional SP2.

Any help?

I got the indentical error when I attempted to install SQL 2000 Developer's Edition on XP Pro. My log file failure occurred at the same place yours did.

I had recently installed .Net framework, .Net SDK, and ASP Web Matrix. I made a lucky guess that they were causing the problem.

I did an uninstall of:
.Net framework
.Net SDK
ASP Web Matrix

I deleted the sub folders in c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server.

Then SQL 2000 DE installed successfully, and I reinstalled the .Net framework & ASP Web Matrix.

Hope this helps.

Fresh SQL 2000 to SP4 gives error

Hi,

I'm trying to Service Pack 4 a fresh installation of SQL 2000 (a named instance called 'SQLSERVER2000') and get the error "Installation of the Microsoft Full-Text Search Engine package failed. (-2147467259) 0x80004005 Unspecified Error" towards the end of the process thus I cannot service Pack my fresh installation of SQL 2000. I have done this many times before on other machines, but its not working for me this time.

At http://www.dbforums.com/ ( http://www.dbforums.com/showthread.php?t=1198047 ) someone ran into this problem and mentioned to re-install Microsoft Full-Text Search. I have followed the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827449 but run into problems at step 2C. At step 2C it says to start the Microsoft Search service via the Services console, but Microsoft Search was nowhere to be found.

Going back a step to Step 2B it says that all registry keys that were previously-deleted are now available and the previously-deleted 'MSSearch' folder is recreated. I took a look, but both the keys and folder WERE NOT there.

It is a fresh OS installation of MS Windows 2003 Standard SP1, 768MB RAM and is running fine.

Can you please point me in the right direction here?

Brad.

Am experiencing the same problem. Have you come across a solution yet?|||Try this link:

During the instalation process, did you set up SQL Server to Windows only

I don't have Windows Vista to test the problem, sorry.

<WARNING>
this method is not supported... pleas have a look in your task manager if a
process named "setupre.exe" is hanging...
if it is, try killing it, and the setup process should continue..

Free CR w/VS6 Enterprise

The folder info is:

Crystal Reports is shipped and installed as part of
the VB installation package except in VB6. This can
be found in \common\tools\crysrep
double click on crystl32.exe to install.Just be aware of the License Agreement (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa288179(vs.71).aspx)

4.2 You may not use the Software or a Server/Web Application on a rental or timesharing basis or to operate a service bureau facility for the benefit of third-parties unless you first acquire an Application Service Provider License from Crystal Decisions. The Runtime Software may be installed on only one server in each Server Environment, and only one instance of the Runtime Software per Server/Web Application may be utilized on that Server at any one time.

4.3 This license agreement does not in itself give you any right to distribute Server/Web Applications to third parties.

There are other restrictions (see the link), but these are the two that most often come into play.|||oddly enough, I couldn't find it in the Tools folder.

Seems to me that I installed it on the old machine, but never used it.
